Welcome Back

Welcome back to the start of the new academic year at SJS.  What a fabulous start it has been for everyone!  I hope you all had a lovely summer holiday.

Everyone seems excited and happy to be back at school and I am pleased to write that all of our new children and staff have settled in well.

This academic year will enable many exciting changes to be embedded, including a new, and challenging, National Curriculum.  Look out for regular updates in our Curriculum Newsletters and children’s blogs.

The school has also redesigned a new behaviour system which you may have seen in your child’s diary.  Pupils’ behaviour continues to impress and everyone is ‘proud to be green’.  Tokens are awarded for exemplar behaviour and attitude, with children working towards their overall team performance.  So far, 4,000 tokens have been received by the children for good behaviour.  It probably comes as no surprise that we have already run out and have had to order another 20,000!

Many children have also been keen to take on responsibilities in school; many have applied for the roles of Prefect, Peer Mediator, Team Captain and School Council Representative.  Well done to all the children who have been successful.  I am sure you will do an amazing job in contributing to the running of your school.

Finally, next week is Roald Dahl Week in school.  Check Friday’s newsletter for more information.  I know I am looking forward to SMART Day on Tuesday and the BFG story-telling performance on Wednesday.  Don’t forget to dress up as your favourite Roald Dahl character on Thursday.  I can’t wait for all the fizz-popping fun and whizz-licious learning next week!
