After School Dance Club

posted 3 May 2016, 09:20 by J Tee

Here at Stocksbridge Junior School, we are always looking to improve our extra-curricular program and this term we have launched our new after-school dance club. We have initially opened it up to the Year 5 and 6’s who are enjoying their introduction to street dance, combining basic moves to form extended routines.

The Dance club takes place on a Friday after school in the hall and is being taught by a high level and experienced dance specialist, Nicola Priestley. Nicola has taught a wide variety of styles to different ages and abilities and has a great desire and passion for teaching dance. Nicola is trained in ballet, tap, modern, musical theatre and street and has spent many years competing. Her most memorable competition was when she took part in the European Festival of Dance in Paris where she dance 3 dances and won 3 golds and the most prestigious award of the competition ‘Performer of the Year’ which was awarded for her Street dance solo. Whilst taking her higher graded examinations in Modern Jazz Nicola was nominated for two IDTA Theatre Awards.

We are very lucky to have this level of expertise here at Stocksbridge Junior School so if your child is interested in joining this club, please come and speak with Mr Tee or Miss Madeley.
