Healthy Week

Stocksbridge Junior School took part in their annual 'Healthy Week' on the 13th-17th June 2016. This involved children taking part in a variety of timetabled activities, which included:
  • Karate - A qualified instructor came into school to teach basic karate skills. 
  • Smoothie bike - The children made a smoothie using a stationary exercise bike and designed their own smoothies.
  • Dance - A qualified dance instructor came into school to teach dance, which was based on sports movements and vital organs.
  • Sports Day - This was postponed due to the weather and has been rearranged for Tuesday 28th June.
  • Poster competition - Children had the opportunity to enter a poster competition, based on promoting healthy living. Winners of the competition were Billy Sunter, Lewis Palmer, Elizabeth Wilkinson and Arwen Grieves.
  • Classroom activities - Children took part in a range of classroom activities based on healthy living.
  • Discovery Kitchen - Children took part in a workshop where they learnt to cook healthy food and even got to taste it! 
  • Rowing - Miss Madeley, Mr Tee and Mr Casey ran an indoor rowing competition, where the children got to have a go on a rower and compete against others in their year group. It was an interactive competition, where the children could see what position they were in during the race on an big screen!
