Since the arrival of the new PE specialist teachers, children at Stocksbridge Junior School have been given the opportunity to run in the Sheffield City Cross Country Championships.  There are 8 fixtures throughout the school year each at a different location on a Saturday morning.  Participating children get points for their school and also an individual score. Each of the 5 races so far has seen up to 500 children from across the city with up to 12 children taking up the opportunity from Stocksbridge. Race 5 was at very muddy Bradfield Secondary School with some tough hills! Luckily there were lots of parents and marshals along the course cheering us on. An outstanding performance from Adam Hirst (pictured below) who came 3rd running against elite athletes and club runners.  Mr Tee has also introduced Adam to Hallamshire Harriers running club at Hillsborough arena to develop his talent further. Other fantastic performances on Saturday were Thomas Firth, Holly Cowan and Tyler Wingfield.

The next race is at Longley Park on the 9th January 2016. We want to say a huge thank you to our parents for giving up their Saturday mornings so that their child can compete.
