Y5/6 Boys Football City Finals

posted 22 May 2017, 09:17 by J Tee
After winning the Y6 boys football league, Stocksbridge Junior School qualified through to the Sheffield city finals where we played against the winning school from each of the 13 leagues. Just to get to this level is an amazing achievement for the boys, but as always we were looking for the team to step up and perform to their best level. The first game against Byron Wood, we were the better team but failed to convert some good chances to score, drawing 0-0. We won the next game against a good Gleadless team 1-0, thanks to a good attacking move by Callum and Luca, setting up Jack, to head home at the far post. Unfortunately, we lost the last game 1-0, but all the boys gave their all and did themselves proud. Player of the competition was Callum, who played out of position, in defensive role and showed a high level of confidence and skill. Well done to all the boys!
