Y5 Boys Football

posted 29 Mar 2017, 00:35 by J Tee

Both our Y5 football teams were in action this week hosting two teams from Marcliffe, who are always very competitive. This year is the first time we had an additional team with the aim of giving more opportunities for children to be involved and experience competition. The PE team felt it was important to keep the football training running too for the children not involved in the competition and for the girls who have the city finals futsal competition to prepare for. Mr Tee refereed Stocksbridge Blue and Mrs Foster joined us as soon as training had finished to help manage the teams.

In the first game, Stocksbridge White gave a good account of themselves battling out a 2-2 draw, with Stocksbridge Blue winning 2-1. We encourage all children to play with sportsmanship while being strong in the tackles, which both teams did very well. In the second game Stocksbridge White lost the game, but played some great football under the management of Mrs Foster. Stocksbridge Blue won comfortably and played some nice 2 touch football which we have been practicing in training.

Thank you for your positive support on the evening and we look forward to the forthcoming competition next week at Grenoside Primary School, 4pm kick-off.
