Y6 Boys Football

The Y6 football A & B teams were in action this week, playing in a round robin tournament alongside Grenoside and Oughtibridge. We at Stocksbridge hosted the event on our top field in some quite wet and cold conditions, but our Y6's did not let this affect their attitudes and performances. It was a real pleasure to watch the young lads really trying to put into practice what they have been learning in training by using width, movement and some excellent passing skills to overcome the other team's defence. Team A were unbeaten in the tournament scoring 14 goals, some of which were outstanding, particularly Ryan Mansel's right foot curl into the top corner after a fantastic team build-up of passes. Team B showed some real determination drawing 1 game and really working together as a team. Joe Martin's performance in the goal was really good, pulling off some great saves along with notable contributions from Sam Taylor and Cole Wright-Lawson.

Team A progress though to a regional finals later in the school year however, children will be re selected based on their efforts and general behaviour around school. Thank you to Mrs Foster and Mr Carr for their outstanding refereeing skills and all the families who braved the weather to support us.
