Y5 have been getting stuck into our new topic- Allotment! There's been some very creative homework handed in, and it's not surprising that Minecraft has been a popular way of designing allotments! One Y5 even managed to visit an allotment in the Easter holiday and interview someone who was hard at work!

Tully's interview:

I decided to visit the allotments on Victoria road to see if there were any people working on them as I wanted to interview them about having an allotment.

I met a lady called Janet who rents one of the plots of land and she is making an organic allotment.

I asked her the following questions:

1) How do you look after your allotment in the winter months?

"I only plant really tough and hardy plants that do not need looking after over the winter months."

2) What is the best thing about having an allotment?

"Getting to meet other people."

3) What do you do about pest control?

"This is an organic plot, so I do not use any chemical sprays or pesticides, I plant  lots of different flowers which help to keep the bugs away.  If you come back in summer you will see lots of flowers of all different colours."

4) If you could re design your allotment, is there anything you would do differently?

"I would Description: C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\NOR1Z1E0\IMG_7117.JPGhave the plot somewhere it did not flood!!"
