Our trip to Eyam!

posted 17 Sep 2014, 11:07 by H Killen   [ updated 18 Sep 2014, 15:17 ]

Today we had great fun exploring the village of Eyam. In 1665 a plague-infected cloth from London arrived in Eyam, and the consequences of this were devastating! The people of Eyam were struck by the plague and most did not survive. Today we saw the houses where some of the first victims once lived. We also learnt about how the plague arrived in Eyam, and how the villagers, very bravely, prevented it from spreading to other parts of the country. We visited the church, and even got to touch the box in which the infamous cloth that brought the plague to Eyam travelled in!
It seems we are becoming quite the experts on the topic of the plague!

Check out some of our photos from the day below!
