Y6 Evacuee Experience at Churnet Valley Railway

posted 5 Oct 2015, 13:08 by D Wright   [ updated 6 Oct 2015, 05:43 ]
Our Year Six children travelled back in time today to 1939 and were evacuated to the countryside.
After a long journey through rain and fog, we arrived at Froghall train station and were split into four groups to take part in a range of exciting activities.

We spent war time pennies in the shop, using our ration books.

Tasted wartime food and spoke to 'real life' evacuees.

learned about life as a Station Master, how to identify enemy aircraft and what to pack in our evacuee's suitcase.

Thank you to all our wonderful Year Six children for your wonderful behaviour, it helped to make this an experience to remember!
