Uniform

From 1998 the governing body decided to make it school policy for all children wear a full school uniform. Children are required to attend school each day wearing the correct school uniform (with the exception of pre-planned non-uniform days).
  • Sweatshirt/Cardigan - Navy blue embroidered with the school logo.
  • Polo Shirt Navy blue or white either embroidered with or without the school logo.
  • Trousers/Shorts/Skirts/Pinafores - Plain navy blue or black. (N.B. It is preferred that trousers are worn rather than tracksuit bottoms. If parents choose for their child to wear jogging bottoms, they must be plain black or navy blue, i.e. no stripes. Jeans/Denim clothing (including skirts and shorts) and leggings are not permitted.)
  • Summer dresses - Blue and white checks.
  • Footwear Dark sensible footwear, this may include trainers but not high heeled shoes.
  • Indoor Footwear - Children should change into pumps/plimsolls/slippers before entering their classrooms.
Jeans/Denim clothing (including skirts and shorts) and leggings are not allowed.

It is our uniform policy that our pupils take pride in their appearance, which includes wearing t-shirts tucked in. Children are not permitted to wear make-up or any jewellery other than a small pair or stud earrings and a watch if they wish.

PE Kit

It is also important that children have suitable PE kit for health, safety and personal hygiene reasons.  Children are asked to have their PE Kit in school each day.  Each item of a child’s PE kit should be clearly labelled and kept in a named bag on the child’s peg.
  • White t-shirt
  • Navy blue/black shorts/tracksuit bottoms
  • Trainers for outdoor PE sessions.

Jewellery & Cosmetics

Jewellery, including rings and hooped earrings, cosmetics and false nails, are not allowed because of the dangers incurred and possible loss/damage.  Children may wear a watch and a pair of small stud earrings, however, children must be able to remove their own earrings for PE lessons.

Lost Property

All clothing and personal possessions belonging to your child must be clearly labelled with your child’s name.  When it is not possible to return clothing or personal possessions to the rightful owner, items are placed in the lost property boxes.

Purchasing Uniform

Uniform can be ordered at any point throughout the school year from Stocksbridge Junior School’s uniform supplier, ´School Trends´.
It is possible to order uniform as and when you require by ordering directly through the School Trends’ online ordering facility, or by completing an order form which may be collected from the school office or downloaded from our Useful Forms page.

School Trends aim for orders to be delivered within 14 days of orders being placed.

A note about sizes:  The sizes on the order form relate to chest measurements in inches rather than ages.  If you are unsure about which size to order for your child, the school office have a selection of sample garments for your child to try for size.
