This week we took at team of Y5 children to Ponds Forge for a swimming development festival which had a nice combination of supported races and relays along with some expert tuition from swimming coaches. This was part of the development programme to provide children who have never been to an elite sporting venue such as Ponds Forge to experience being part of a team. Alongside our session, we had the privilege to watch some professional divers preparing for the upcoming Olympics and the Hallam elite swimmers team being put through their paces which was very impressive.
Every child had a chance to swim against 6 other schools in a range of different strokes. We all demonstrated a lot of courage to give it a good go, which is a part of our REACH school values. This reflected in our final standings of a very respectable 3rd place. Well done team Stocky!
